Subcutaneous injections allow fluids to be administered through the layer of skin immediately below the dermis and epidermis known as the subcutis. They are highly effective administration vehicles for a number of drugs including immunoglobulin, insulin, morphine and other chemically strong pharmaceutical products.
As an alternative, SubQ administration is highly recommended for patients needing prolonged infusion therapy sessions, as this procedure offers reductions in side effects, including discomfort, headaches, vomiting and diarrhea.
EMED ® Subcutaneous infusion sets were clinically engineered to meet the requirements of patients for SubQ therapy.
